Climate and Health in Wales: One Health Approaches to Tackle the Climate and Nature Emergency in Wales
Climate change is the greatest global health threat facing the world in the 21st Century[1] and in Wales the climate and nature emergency is featured in the well-being objectives of Welsh Government’s Programme for Government 2021-26.[2]
The Chief Medical Officer for Wales Special Report (2021) recommended that following the collaborations developed both before and during the pandemic, Wales should adopt a One Health approach to sustainable development as part of the response to a range of threats, including climate change.[3]
There is an opportunity for Wales to embed the One Health approach, integrating multiple disciplines across the system and bringing together partners from the human, animal and environmental sectors to work on issues that intersect these domains, including food security and nutrition, climate change and threats from infectious diseases.
This webinar provided an overview of the One Health approach.
