With Public Health Network Cymru
In this webinar Ashley Gould from the Behavioural Science Unit, Public Health Wales will unpack the key headline influences of decisions and behaviours, and why a better understanding of these can make for more effective interventions, more impactful polices, more equitable services and communications with greater reach and response. He will describe a step-wise approach to defining, diagnosing, and deciphering behavioural influences and how to best respond to them when designing and delivering interventions. The webinar will highlight examples of how behavioural science was used in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Simon Williams from Swansea University will discuss findings from the Swansea University-led Public Views on the Covid Pandemic (PVCOVID) study – a longitudinal mixed-methods research project following public attitudes and behaviours during the pandemic. He will discuss public adherence to COVID-19 non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) (e.g. Social distancing and facemask wearing) as well as vaccine uptake. He will discuss the facilitators and barriers to adherence, drawing on a range of concepts and frameworks within health psychology and behavioural science.
