Focus on play – How play supports children’s mental health

Play Wales have published a new issue of Focus on play, which considers the crucial role of children’s play in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. It is aimed at Regional Partnership Boards and Public Service Boards and discusses ways that local and regional plans can support play.

In this issue of Focus on play, they explore:

  • how play contributes to children’s long-term and immediate wellbeing, physical health, mental health and resilience
  • the national and international policies that legislate for and endorse play as essential to children’s health and wellbeing
  • playwork and the role of playworkers in supporting children’s play provision
  • the importance of co-production and ensuring integrated approaches to play and wellbeing
  • how Regional Partnership Boards and Public Service Boards can contribute.
