Understanding and Measuring Wellbeing

These recordings have been developed to help individuals, professionals, and communities  learn more about mental wellbeing—what it is, what influences it, and how we can support it in ourselves and others.

There are three related recordings; Introduction to Mental Wellbeing, Understanding and Measuring Wellbeing, Adverse Childhood Experiences and Wellbeing.  Each recording has been produced by professionals with expertise in mental health and wellbeing:

  • Introduction to Mental Wellbeing
    Created by Dr Jen Daffin, a Clinical Psychologist from Platfform, this recording provides an understanding of mental health and wellbeing. It explores the factors that can impact our mental state , both positively and negatively, and offers practical suggestions for how we can actively support and boost our wellbeing.
  • Understanding and Measuring Wellbeing
    In this recording, Dr Sarah Stewart-Brown, Professor of Public Health at Warwick University, introduces the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS). She explains how to use the scale, what it measures, and how it can be applied to assess and track mental wellbeing. Sarah also shares insights into how wellbeing data is collected and interpreted, providing valuable context for both personal reflection and professional use.
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences and Wellbeing
    Delivered by the Gwent Attachment Service, this recording focuses on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their lasting impact on mental wellbeing. It explains how early life trauma can influence brain development and shape the way we respond to stress in later life. The session also highlights the importance of understanding ACEs in supporting emotional health and resilience.

Together, these recordings offer a comprehensive introduction to the many dimensions of mental wellbeing. They are suitable for anyone interested in learning more—whether for personal development, professional training, or community education.
