About this event

Join Public Health Wales and the Welsh Government for an informative and practical webinar introducing the Health Impact Assessment (Wales) Regulations 2025, ahead of their implementation in April 2027.

This session will provide a clear and accessible introduction to what the regulations will mean for public bodies. You’ll discover how Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) can support better, more informed decision-making by considering both the short and long-term impacts of policies on physical and mental health. We will explore why HIAs are a valuable tool for addressing health inequalities and understanding the wider determinants of health, including housing, employment, and education.

The webinar will also explain when HIAs are required and how they can be applied in a flexible and proportionate way across different settings. You will gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of HIAs – from identifying risks early to strengthening collaboration and improving outcomes.

Attendees will also hear about the support available from the Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit (WHIASU) and how organisations can begin preparing for implementation.
