About this event

Public Health Wales recently published a report on behalf of the Building a Healthier Wales Coordination Group, called Better Join Up, Better Outcomes for Child Poverty. This webinar will share the findings and recommendations of this report and present a self-assessment tool that participants can use to support collaboration across any topic.

Child poverty and its consequences for health are avoidable, but taking effective action to reduce child poverty requires consistent, long-term collaboration in partnerships across Wales.  However, we know that collaboration remains a challenge and wanted to understand what could be done to support this at all levels.

In 2025, we completed a literature review to identify the features of organisations and systems that enable effective collaborative working. We then conducted an assessment of whether these enabling features of effective collaboration are present in child poverty partnerships across all sectors, through a survey and a series of interviews.

We identified extensive areas of good practice in multiple local and regional partnerships across Wales that we intend to share, as well as identifying enabling actions (often at a national level) that would support local and regional collaborative practices.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about the features of effective intersectoral collaboration
  • Become motivated to use the self-assessment tool to help individual improvement processes
  • Identify people interested in attending a follow-on session to work on practical steps to address any areas of improvement identified following the webinar.
