WHIASU@20

Thursday 14th November 2024
With Public Health Network Cymru

The landscape of Health Impact Assessment (HIA) has changed massively over the last 20 years, and the Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit (WHIASU) have been right at the heart of it since its founding in 2004. This webinar was a chance for attendees to look at how WHIASU has developed as a Unit over the last 20 years. There was an update on the latest developments of the HIA Regulations from a Welsh Government representative, a first look at a HIA case studies document for public bodies with two live examples, as well as a panel discussion looking at where HIA might be in another 20 years’ time. There was also a chance for attendees to ask any HIA related questions to the panel of experts.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Attendees to learn how WHIASU have developed as a Unit over the last 20 years and contributed to the development of the practice of HIA, with the view to seeing how the HIA Regulations will have an impact going forward.
  • Attendees to get an idea of how HIA is carried out in practice, with two case studies being presented, as well as an introduction to our newly published case studies document on the day.
  • To start thinking about how HIA will evolve over the next 20 years through a panel discussion with experts in the field of HIA.
