The COVID-19 Pandemic in Wales: Reproductions of vulnerability

Throughout the pandemic the concept of ‘vulnerability’ has played an important role in the response measures and provided insights into the lived realities of those most affected. It points out people who have been more likely than others to suffer illness and adversity, and who should be prioritised for the vaccine.

This webinar traces how particular understandings of the concept have informed the pandemic responses from healthcare, the Welsh and local governments, and community organisations in Wales with focus on the Swansea area. Quotations from pre-pandemic and pandemic policies as well as from interviews serve to illustrate how vulnerability has been understood and acted upon differently. These insights lead to suggest how the pandemic has had such inequitable effects on the population of Wales.
