Alcohol and Substance Misuse

Welcome to September’s e-bulletin. This month the focus is on alcohol and substance misuse. Substance abuse or misuse is defined as the continued misuse of any psychoactive substance that is harmful or hazardous to a person’s wellbeing health, social situation and responsibilities. Alcohol dependence is the most common form of substance misuse, but any drug comes into this category, as does the misuse of glue and aerosols and prescription medicines. This e-bulletin includes articles which look at national, regional and local initiatives which focus on support available to those in need.
