Climate Change, the Welsh Perspective

Thursday 11th November 2021
With Public Health Network Cymru

Climate change is the greatest global health threat facing the world in the 21st century and affects many of the social and environmental determinants of health – clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.

This webinar was held on Thursday 11 November at 14:00 which coincided with the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) being held in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021.

In this webinar we heard from Jonathan Tench from the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner who gave an overview of what Wales is doing at a National level highlighting some of the positive actions in Wales and showcasing how local projects are playing their part in tackling climate change.

Nerys Edmonds from Public Health Wales gave a brief overview of the Climate Change Health Impact Assessment which was due to be published at the end of the year. Nerys explained the role of Public Health Wales and explored the health and wellbeing impacts that need to be addressed in planning for and responding to climate change.
