Hapus: A National Conversation on Mental Wellbeing

Wednesday 6th November 2024
With Public Health Network Cymru

National surveys show that the mental wellbeing of adults in Wales has declined in recent years and we are seeing persistently high rates of self-reported anxiety.

Over recent years we’ve seen great progress in people speaking more openly about mental health challenges and illness. We want to build on this to get people talking about what supports them to stay mentally well.

Whilst people know it is important to look after our wellbeing, surveys run by Public Health Wales show there are lower levels of awareness about what works to maintain positive mental wellbeing.

Public Health Wales and our partners have launched Hapus, a national conversation on mental wellbeing. Hapus aims to get people talking about what helps to protect and improve mental wellbeing; what helps us to feel good and function well.

This webinar provided a brief overview of mental wellbeing and the Hapus National Conversation.  It provided information about our Equality Impact Assessment, and actions that we are taking to mitigate negative impacts.  We talked about the role of Hapus Supporters, invited organisations to apply and outlined the benefits of becoming a Hapus Supporter.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of mental wellbeing and the things that people can do to protect and promote it.
  • Be aware of the aims, objectives and approach of the Hapus campaign.
  • To understand of the role of a ‘Hapus Supporter’ and how to apply.
