In March 2022, Gwent Public Service Board became the first area in Wales to commit to become a Marmot region, signalling its strategic intent to work with the Institute of Health Equity to address inequity between communities across Gwent. This includes adopting the Marmot principles as the framework for collective action.
A number of cities in England have also committed to becoming Marmot regions including Coventry City Council in 2013. An independent evaluation was conducted in 2020 of the six years that Coventry had been a Marmot City. This evaluation examined how the Marmot principles have been applied, informed future developments and provided information and insight for other areas.
In this webinar we will hear from Stuart Bourne from Aneurin Bevan Gwent Public Health Team and Alicia Phillips from Coventry City Council. They will explore the approach taken to becoming Marmot regions and highlight learning and recommendations.
